yamaha unveils DTX900 Series and new Textured Cellular Silicone DTX-PADs.

Combining their expertise in acoustic drum manufacturing and cutting edge digital sound technology, Yamaha announces the DTX900 Series Electronic Drum System, complete with the innovative new DTX-PAD. The Textured Cellular Silicone (TCS) heads have been designed with input from the company's legendary stable of drum artists. The head uses a proprietary manufacturing process that introduces small air bubbles into foamed silicone to provide playability and feel unlike any other pad on the market. Every nuance and detail of the kit has been fine-tuned so that even "old school" acoustic drummers will feel right at home. With a different stick response and rebound from the snare and toms, a hi-hat that responds naturally to both hands and feet, along with three-zone choke-able cymbals, the Yamaha DTX900 series lets drummers express their passion for rhythm just as they can on an acoustic kit.

Sounds Good

Utilizing sound technology from the highly acclaimed Motif XS and DSP effects from Yamaha's high-end digital mixers, the DTX900 Drum Trigger Module has professional sounds that bring your drumming to life. There are 1,115 drum, percussion and effect voices to choose from, or you can use the SAMPLING function for endless sound expansion if you add the optional DIMMs. The DTX900 module is capable of importing and layering samples, and there is a growing library of third party DTX sounds and compatible VST instruments available to make sure you never run out of new sonic possibilities.

Full of Cool Tools

The DTX900 Series is designed to let you express yourself without thinking about the fact you are playing electronic drums, yet it has all the advantages of a completely digital system. The DTX900 includes a sequencer so you can record your own grooves any time you want or create complete backing tracks to jam along with. The Groove Check and advanced Metronome functions help you develop solid timing. The unique Stack/Alternate modes let you layer multiple sounds and trigger musical phrases to open up tons of creative possibilities. Finally, the USB ports, MIDI connections, and multiple audio outputs (including digital SP/DIF) let you easily integrate with any professional recording environment or your personal computer.

For quiet practice, playing live or as a controller for VST instruments, the revolutionary new playability and feel of the TCS pads, combined with Yamaha's acclaimed digital sound technology, make the Yamaha DXT900 Series Electronic Drums the one to beat.

Two kits are in the current new series, DTX950K, a six piece Electronic Drum System with an MSRP of $8,699 / MAP $5399.99, and the five piece DTX900K that has an MSRP of $7,119.99 / MAP $4399.99.
