Kraliyet ikizlerinin doğduğu gün “İkizlerden kız olanı 16 yaşına bastığında Dünya’yı yok edecektir.” kehaneti yapılır. Bunu önlemek için kız doğumdan hemen sonra yüksek kayalıklardan ölüme bırakılır. Küçük bebeği ölümden Casull çifti kurtarır ve kendi çocukları Shannon ve Raquel ile birlikte onu da büyütmeye başlarlar.
Casull çifti öldükten sonra Shannon ve Raquel küçük kız kardeşleri 15 yaşındaki Pacifica’yı alıp yaşadıkları köyü terk ederler. Çünkü tanrı Mauser’in inananları Pacifica 16 yaşına basmadan onu bulup öldürmek istemektedir.
