11 yaşındaki Genki, “Monster Rancher” yarışmasında finale kalır ve finalde de başarılı olarak şampiyon olur. Bir gün okul dönüşü Genki, evde “Monster Rancher” şampiyonluğu ödülü olarak kendisine yeni “Monster Rancher 200X” CD-ROM oyununun gönderildiğini görür ile oynamaya başlar. Oyunun daha başında bir canavar yaratmaya çalışırken Genki kendisini “Monster Rancher” evreninde bulur.
Bu sıradışı evrende Holly adındaki bir kız ve göz şeklindeki canavar Suezo kötü canavarlardan kaçarlarken birdenbire karşılarına Genki çıkar. Ne olduğunu anlayamayadan üçlü birlikte kaçmaya başlarlar.
Holly, bütün canavarları kötü canavara dönüştüren Moo’nun egemenliği altına giren bu evrende canavarları eski şekline dönüştürebilecek tek şey olan Phoneix’in peşindedir ve Phoneix hakkında bildiği tek şey onun bir “Disk” içinde uyumakta olduğudur.
