Mixed Type If Clauses
Her zaman Type 2 ile Type 3 arasında olur.
Hatırlandığı gibi If Clause Type II şu anki durumlarda kullanılmaktadır:
v He is rich, so he can buy that car. [A1] (Şimdiki Zaman)
v If he werent rich, he couldnt buy that car.[A2]
If Clause Type III geçmiş durumlarda kullanılmaktadır:
v I didnt study, so I failed.[A3] (Geçmiş zaman)
v If I had studied, I wouldnt have failed.[A4]
Mixed Type ise şimdiki ve geçmiş zamanın beraber kullanıldığı cümlelerde kullanılmaktadır:
I didnt eat (geçmiş zaman) breakfast, so I am hungry now (şimdiki zaman) now.[A5]
Type III Type II
If I had eaten breakfast, I wouldnt be hungry now[A6] .
Burada önemli olan if alacak cümleyi yani şart cümlesini belirlemektir.
He is a lazy student, so he didnt do his homework.[A7]
If yapısını ilk cümle alır. Dolayısıyla:
If he werent a lazy student, he would have done his homework[A8] .
v The room is cold now because you left the window open.[A9]
The room wouldnt be cold now if you hadnt left the window open.[A10]
v He is a rude person, so he told me bad words.[A11]
If he werent a rude person, he wouldnt have told me bad words.[A12]
