Saya Otonashi, Japonya'da ailesi ile huzurlu bir şekilde yaşayan liseli bir kızdır. Ama Saya, bir sene öncesine kadar olanları hatırlamaktadır. Bir gün genç ve yakışıklı çello sanatçısı Hagi'nin ona bir kılıç vermesiyle, bütün hayatı değişir.
